5/18 Time out for Moms

5/18 Time out for Moms

This facilitated gathering is slated to take time out with moms to discuss those all too familiar thoughts and questions about making the decision to stay home or work outside the home. Managing the self - family balance. Figuring out what we need when we're so busy taking care of others' needs, and learning how to say no, and when to disengage. Panelist:
Tam Hixson, is raising two mixed-race children and wrapping her head around a milestone birthday this year. Born on an Indonesian refugee camp and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Tam is fueled by a belief that education and home-ownership changed the trajectory of her life.
Terralyn Wiley is a Community Schools Program Specialist overseeing all 90 SUN community schools in Portland and Gresham. She also serves on a board of a mental health based nonprofit in Las Vegas called Solutions of Change.  She has spent the last 10 years of her career working closely with various populations of children and families and is deeply committed to child and family development as it pertains to community building.
